JANUARY - The Awakening

JANUARY Space: The Universe and Everything at Hull Minster
18th to 23rd January 2023
This January, for four evenings, the Minster will open its doors and invite you to come and explore and experience the church like never before. Following on from hosting ‘Gaia’ we want to voyage beyond earth and bring the galaxies, black holes, stars and planets to Hull!
FEBRUARY Wakefield Rhubarb Festival
17th to 19th February 2023
Rhubarb lovers rejoice – Wakefield’s celebration of its most famous vegetable, the Rhubarb Festival, returns to paint the city pink for three days from 17-19 February 2023. One of the first food and drink festivals in the national calendar, it promises to start things off with a bang!
MARCH Keighley and Worth Valley Railway Steam Gala
9th to 12th March 2023
You’ll be able to ride behind our guest locomotives and our home fleet across the three days, with intensive passenger service running on the railway. Across the traction-packed weekend, there’ll be a goods train demonstration and special double-headed trains.
APRIL Gawthorpe World Coal Carrying Championship
10th April 2023
The Gawthorpe World Coal Carrying Championship is back – take part in the world’s biggest and oldest coal race!
Each year, men and women come from all over the world to race the streets of Gawthorpe carrying huge sacks of coal for approximately three quarters of a mile uphill to secure the best time.
APRIL Tulip Festival at Burnby Hall
22nd April to 6th May 2023
Burnby Hall Gardens’ annual Tulip Festival is a very popular annual event and provides a colourful and vibrant beginning to our new season. This year, there is a cascade of colours throughout the Gardens, featuring over 15000 tulips, with 130 varieties on display.
MAY Haworth 1940's Weekend
20th and 21st May 2023
A weekend of living history and re-enactments in the beautiful village of Haworth, parades, dances, military and wartime civilian activities.
JUNE Skipton Sheep Day
25th June 2023
Skipton’s heritage as “Sheep Town” is celebrated annually with sheep displays and racing and many other sheep related activities which fill the High Street.

Humber Street Sesh returns in 2023 and it's our 10th anniversary, so come party! A festival for the people, by the people. Providing a platform for emerging musicians, artists and creatives from across the region and beyond.
AUGUST Whitby Regatta
12th to 14th August 2023
The Whitby Regatta presents to you a full weekend of entertainment, embracing yacht racing, rowing races and various free forms of entertainment as published in the official programme, finishing with a prize presentation and spectacular firework display.
SEPTEMBER Scarborough Jazz Festival.
22nd to 24th September 2023
The Scarborough Jazz Festival will now take place across the weekend of 23-25 September 2022 at Scarborough Spa.
Alongside some of our favourite festival performers we have many new faces: the ground breaking pianist Fergus McCreadie; violinist John Pearce and gypsy jazz from Djanco.
OCTOBER Whitby Goth Weekend
27th to 29th October 2023
The Whitby Goth Weekend® is an alternative festival incorporating the Bizarre Bazaar Alternative Market which features over 100 indoor stalls. It was founded in 1994 by Jo Hampshire and has grown to become one of the world’s premier Goth events.
NOVEMBER Illuminate The Gardens
3rd, 4th and 5th November 2023
A magical night out for the whole family, at ILLUMINATE THE GARDENS you can enjoy some delicious street food or grab a drink from the licensed bar, get involved in some free kids activities, enjoy the vintage fairground rides and watch mesmerising fire performance.
DECEMBER Flamborough Fire Festival
31st December 2023
The Flamborough Fire Festival is, once again, taking place on New Year’s Eve when the village will be besieged by strong, handsome invaders led by King Canute who, having sailed across the North Sea from Norway and Denmark, will take the Festival and village by storm! Flamborough will be a blaze of celebration with fireballs, fire torches, fireworks and Viking music and drums!
