Support local business and artisan traders a t your local Christmas Markets and Fairs. Markets start as early as mid-November and some run through to Christmas Eve for the mast minute shopper.

Leeds International Film Festival

1st to 17th November 2024
The Leeds International Film Festival (LIFF) is the largest film festival in England outside London. Founded in 1987, it is held in November at various venues throughout Leeds.

Ghosts in the Garden

21st September to 5th November 2024
This year’s display is set to be bigger and better than ever, with 45 ghosts to discover in some of the city's beautiful public gardens and green spaces. From monks to Victorians, and cats to a famous highwayman, there's plenty to discover while enjoying Ghosts in the Gardens.

Illuminate The Gardens

1st, 2nd and 3rd November 2024
The awesome stars of the show return in our two fireworks displays a night at Illuminate the Gardens and are once again provided by award winning Yorkshire company OPTIMUM FIREWORKS, with a ‘low bangs’ display taking place earlier in the evening and a mindblowing finale display set to music towards the end of the event.

Yorkshire Festival of Story

1st to 10th November 2024
YFOS 24 will use epic stories, fairy tales, theatre, and song to explore how we speak truth to power and how we can achieve justice through stories. Events in Settle, North Yorkshire and Barnsley, South Yorkshire.

This year marks the 30th Anniversary of St Nicholas Fair, which has been a staple in York’s streets during the festive period since 1992. The famous alpine chalets line Parliament Street and St Sampson’s Square creating a festive wonderland, with an array of local traders and artisan products.

Sheffield Christmas Market

This market has grown from a handful of cabins on the main shopping area of Sheffield to an entire christmas experience of 50 cabins. Santas Grotto is at the heart of the event with the much loved Sleigh Bar and the traditional German Sausage grill.

Involving up to 200 costumed characters and expected to attract thousands, the eagerly awaited walking parade on 18 November will follow a simple route through the heart of Halifax, launching the town’s Christmas festivities in the process.

Scarborough Lights

Scarborough Lights is the first event in The Scarborough Fair programme and will see the whole town sparkle and shine from 15 November through to 23 December, with many free light displays to enjoy.

Todmorden Book Festival

The Polar Express at Embsay and Bolton Abbey Railway

Light Up Festival at National Coal Mining Museum

Christmas launch weekend as the Museum comes to life with a stunning light show including a showstopping centrepiece, ‘Sentinel’, inspired by coal mining’s canaries.
