Jorvik Viking Festival

17th to 23rd February 2025
York will be taken over by Viking warriors. This world renowned festival features living history encampments, workshops, tours, traditional crafts, feasts, family events, evening entertainment and dramatic combat performances.

The Great Escape Project at Eden Camp

17th and 18th February 2024
Throughout the weekend, you will witness real life reenactment that conveys the story of The Great Escape and how the Allies planned a secret breakout!

Haworth 1940's Weekend

17th to 19th May 2024
A weekend of living history and re-enactments in the beautiful village of Haworth, parades, dances, military and wartime civilian activities.

Castleford Roman Festival

1st June 2024
Experience Castleford’s Roman heritage during a fun family day. Explore a roman-themed market with demonstrations and activities such as roman toy making, science experiments and pottery throwing.

Gladiators: Heroes of the Colosseum at Royal Armouries

28th June to 2nd November 2025
Discover original artefacts from the Colosseum, rare helmets discovered in Pompeii, life-scale models of gladiators in action, and interactive elements exploring their training, combat skills, healthcare and daily life.

Ingleton 1940's Weekend

30th June to 2nd July 2024
Step back in time and join us for a weekend full of nostalgic entertainment. Learn the history of World War 2, enjoy the music & fashions of the era.

Malton Roman Festival

21st July 2024
The third Roman Festival will include live action demonstrations from the Roman Cavalry by Equistry, marching and battle sequences from Magister Militum, Roma Antiqua and Legio VI Victrix.

York Georgian Festival

1st to 4th August 2024
the return of fabulous fashion, food and… fans… this summer! York Georgian Festival will return on Thursday 1 August until Sunday 4th August 2024.

The Yorkshire Wartime Experiece has some of the most respected Living History Groups presenting their magnificent displays from the 1st and 2nd world war.

York Unlocked opens the most interesting and significant buildings in York to the public completely for free. It’s a weekend festival that allows residents and visitors to see York in a new way, and aims to educate and inspire a love of architecture.
