Festival Highlights: What’s on the Programme

Co-produced by the Bradford Culture Company and the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council, this year’s festival is building directly on the phenomenal legacy of the UK City of Culture. The event is custom-designed to showcase the city's beautifully revamped streets, market spaces, and urban gardens with playful, exhilarating experiences around every corner.

The Mirror Pool Headliner: Gorilla Circus presents 'UNITY' 🎪

The crowning jewel of the festival takes place at Bradford’s iconic Mirror Pool—the UK’s largest urban water feature. Here, the renowned Gorilla Circus will stage an astonishing, large-scale aerial spectacular called UNITY.
Merging immersive theater with high wire-walking, dance trapeze, and hair-hanging, this performance loops a series of cables across a massive 60-meter area, placing the audience right inside the action as artists perform directly overhead.

Immersive Art & Dance Across the City 💃

The festival spreads its wings across multiple vibrant city-center zones:

  • Norfolk Gardens: Head to this beautiful new city-center park to witness Closer to My Dreams, a high-energy hip-hop choreography piece. While you're there, keep an eye out for the eccentric Art Doctors roaming the grass to "cure" artistic slumps, and living card tables creating magical encounters.
  • Darley Street Market: This award-winning space will host impressive juggling acts, a giant public hopscotch board, and a highly physical, humorous dance piece inspired by British pub culture, set to a pounding soundtrack.
  • Centenary Square: This vibrant hub will feature a dedicated music stage spotlighting emerging musical talent from across the district, guaranteed to turn the square into a giant outdoor dancefloor.

A Global Line-up 🌍

Bradford is welcoming international spectacle to its streets this summer:

  • Sound De Secà (Spain): Bringing an infectious, high-energy fusion of percussion, dance, and street theater.
  • Gigi Art of Dance (Indonesia): Delivering a captivating performance exploring culture, human connection, and conversation.
  • Seeta Patel Dance: Presenting a striking, powerful adaptation of Stravinsky’s iconic ballet The Rite of Spring using the classic Indian movement style, Bharatanatyam.
  • WAVE: All Around the World: An interactive show that invites the audience to become part of the performance using body percussion, claps, and self-made rhythms.

Fantastic Family Fun 🦊

There is an absolute wealth of entertainment to capture the imaginations of little ones, including:

  • Interactive printing workshops and a dedicated bus packed to the brim with books.
  • Whimsical, roaming pop-up performers featuring dragons on bicycles, foxes riding scooters, and friendly posties delivering dreams directly to the crowd.
