Burnby Hall Gardens are situated close to Pocklington town centre. The approximatley 9 acres contain lakes, woodland, rock garden, stumpery and areas of contemporary planting.
The lakes are home to the National collection of water lillies, which provide a stunning vista from June through to August. Fish food can be pruchased on entry to feed the carp and roach who live in the lake.
The Rock Garden is an original feature of the gardens which has been restored using the original plans. The paths wind around the lower lake and provide a wide variety of colour. The rock garden does have some steps and gravel paths, there are still fully accessible paths for all visitors to access the area.
The Stumpery is a fairly recent addition to the gardens and is a haven to wildlife, birds and insects. A central feature is the hobbit house, there are also numerous animal and wooden sculptutres and a bird hide with details if the birds you amy see.
The Walled Garden is a more modern contemporary garden with beds packed full of colour and concentric paths. The Avairy garden has a more formal air and is home to a restored Edwardian summerhouse. This area forms the centre piece of the spring Tulip festival.
The Stewart Museum is home to artefacts from the world tours taken by Major Percy Stewart and his wife Katehrine.
