Allerthorpe lake is man made, a maximum depth of 7ft and a sandy bottom with no weeds. Being comparatively shallow to other lakes it also gets very warm with our thermometers reading a top temperature of 28 degrees at the height of summer.

Open Water Swim at Leeds Dock

An inner city opportunity to rewild your soul and reconnect with nature, open water swimming is proven to improve health and happiness. In partnership with Love Open Water and NOWCA the sport is now a permanent fixture at Leeds Dock with sessions every Friday (11am – 2pm) and Saturday (9am – 12pm).

Sea Swimming With Whitby Surf School

Half day introduction to Sea Swimming session is perfect for both beginners and intermediate sea swimmers alike. In groups of up to eight, you will be taught all about the theory of sea swimming before taking to the water for a practical session.

Ellerton Open Water Swimming

Triathlon swimmers and open water swimmers are welcome for training. Please note all swimmers must wear wetsuits. Quoted by one of the leading triathlon magazines as "the cleanest lake in the north of England for swimming". Qualified instructors are available for open water swimming with pre-booking.
